Bartomeu Nicolau Morlà, known professionally as Tomeu Penya, was born on March 22, 1949, in Villafranca de Bonany, Baleares, Spain. He started his musical career at fifteen, performing with rock groups during Mallorca's tourism boom. Penya's early travels across Europe, playing in pubs from Venice to Sweden, honed his skills before returning home to record his debut album Canta a la Vila. His breakthrough came with the release of Coverbos (1984). Penya's career saw significant milestones, including receiving the Premio Nacional de la Música Ligera in 1992 for his album Sirena, and achieving chart success with "Illes dins d'un riu" from Una aclucada d'ull (1994), which topped the Catalan sales charts. Throughout his career, Penya has released several albums, including compilations like Antolgia (1999). In 2024, he released Sa vida són dos dies, marking his enduring presence in the music scene.
