Hendrika "Rita" Sturm, known professionally as Rita Corita, and born on November 24, 1917, in Amsterdam, was a singer, accordionist, and actress. She began her career as a singer and accordionist, performing at her father's café. In the mid-1930s, she joined The Four Serenaders and married the group's leader, Coen Ooms. Together, they formed the duo De Coritas. Her breakthrough came in 1957 with the release of "Koffie, koffie, lekker bakkie koffie", which sold over 200,000 copies. In 1962, she participated in the National Song Contest with "Carnival" and later ventured into television and film. She continued performing until the late 1980s when a tour bus accident led to her retirement. Corita passed away on December 24, 1998, in Beekbergen.
