Margot Loyola Palacios, also known as Margot Loyola, born on September 15, 1918, in Linares, Chile, was a folklorist, composer, guitarist, pianist, collector, and researcher of folklore. She studied piano at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música de Chile and formed her first group, Las Hermanas Loyola, with her sister Estela. In the 1940s, she began teaching courses that led to the formation of notable groups like Ballet Folclórico Nacional Aucaman. Loyola's research into Chilean folklore resulted in significant contributions such as Otras Voces En Mi Voz (2010). She received numerous accolades, including the Premio Nacional de Artes Musicales de Chile in 1994 and the Orden al Mérito Artístico y Cultural Pablo Neruda in 2005. Loyola passed away on August 3, 2015, leaving behind a rich legacy that continues to influence Chilean music and culture.
