Cho Youngnam, born Yeong-nam Cho on May 13, 1945, in South Korea, is a singer known for his contributions to rock music. He began his singing career in 1968 with the release of "Delilah", marking his debut in the music industry. Throughout his career, Cho Youngnam released numerous albums including 조영남 (1970), 조영남 골든 (1975), and 사랑이란 (1984). Some of his notable songs include "My Home Chungchong Province", "Hwagae Marketplace", "Swallow", "Barley Field", and "Farewell to the City". In addition to his music career, Cho Youngnam is also known for his work as a painter, writer, and television personality. He has been active in various genres beyond rock, releasing albums such as 조영남 복음성가 (1990), which features gospel music, and 조영남 김도향 크리스마스 캐롤 (1991), a collaboration with Kim Do-hyang for Christmas carols. Cho Youngnam's career spans over five decades, during which he has released over 20 albums, showcasing his versatility as an artist. His music has been influential in South Korea, and he continues to be a prominent figure in the country's music scene. In 2016, Cho Youngnam faced legal issues related to art fraud but was ultimately found not guilty by the South Korean Supreme Court in 2020.
