El Pino and the Volunteers, a band from Rotterdam, Netherlands, was formed in 2001. The group's origins trace back to an exchange project in Vancouver where David Pino, then singer of Wiseguy, met two Canadians who introduced him to alternative country music. This encounter led to the formation of El Pino and the Volunteers upon his return to the Netherlands. Their EP Cougar, released in 2005, sold out quickly. In 2006, they signed with Excelsior Recordings and released their debut album Molten City. The album was named album of the week at 3voor12. El Pino and the Volunteers supported Johan during a Dutch club tour and performed at festivals including Noorderslag in Groningen. Their subsequent albums include The Long-Lost Art of Becoming Invisible (2009) and their self-titled album El Pino and the Volunteers (2016).
