Jennifer Koh, born on October 8, 1976, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois is an American violinist of Korean descent. She studied at Oberlin College, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and the Curtis Institute of Music. In 1994, she became the top medalist at the International Tchaikovsky Competition and received a scholarship from the Concert Artists Guild. Koh has performed with major orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic. Her recordings include Bach & Beyond, Pt. 2 (2015) and Tchaikovsky: Complete Works for Violin & Orchestra (2016). She is also known for her advocacy of music education for children and for premiering contemporary works by composers such as Kaija Saariaho and John Zorn. In 2012, she appeared in the revival of Einstein on the Beach. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her Alone Together project drew attention to the financial struggles faced by artists.
