Paille is the stage name of French singer Yoni Alpha, born on June 18, 1982, in Martinique. He performed in the genres of reggae, dancehall, and zouk. Alpha began his career in the late 1990s with the ensemble La Patrie and utilized a faststyle flow. He was noticed in 2003 while in a studio in Sainte-Luce. His debut studio recording, Mots pour maux, appeared in 2007 and included the tracks “L'École des flammes” and “Pleurer”, the latter featuring Cindy Faustin. In 2011, he released the album Inflammable, which featured the recording “Fè yo mal”. He appeared wearing a straw hat during his performances. His discography included the compilation Le Mot de trop (Best Of) (2016) and the EP Le Crépuscule des lions, tome 1 (2024). Alpha also worked as a teacher of communication and management.
