Juan de la Cruz Piña Valderrama, known as Juan Piña, was born on June 18, 1951, in San Marcos, Sucre, Colombia. He started his musical career at a young age, joining his father's orchestra, "Juan Piña y sus Muchachos," and contributing to their first recordings as a backing vocalist. Piña later collaborated with El Binomio de Oro alongside Rafael Orozco and founded the group "La Revelación." His powerful vocals made him a notable figure in Sanmarquera music. He released several albums, including Definitivamente... (1981), Piña Para Todos (1983), and Cantaré (1986). Piña won the Congo de Oro award multiple times and received a Latin Grammy for his album "Le canta a San Jacinto" in 2012.
