Leadfinger, an Australian guitar rock band formed in Wollongong, New South Wales, in 2006 by Glasgow-born singer and guitarist Stewart "Leadfinger" Cunningham. The band's debut album, The Floating Life, was released on July 30, 2007, through Bang! Records. Leadfinger’s initial lineup included drummer Stephen O’Brien and bassist Wayne Stokes, who joined in mid-2006 and New Year’s Eve 2006 respectively. The band's first full performance took place at Wollongong's Oxford Tavern on February 2006. Following the release of The Floating Life, Leadfinger recorded new material that appeared on the EP Through the Cracks (2008) and the album Rich Kids (2009). The original lineup disbanded in August 2008 after their final performance at Melbourne's The Tote Hotel. A new lineup featuring guitarist Michael Boyle, bassist Adam “Reggie” Screen, and drummer Dillon Hicks formed later that year, marking a turning point for the band with stronger camaraderie and consistent live presence.
