Born of the dissolution of Marquis de Sade, Rennes-based Octobre was formed in 1981 around former members Frank Darcel (guitar), Thierry Alexandre (bass) and Éric Morinière (drums), with Eric Lanz as the new lead singer. Moving away from the dark cold wave style of Marquis de Sade, Octobre opted for synthetic rock with keyboardist Arnold Turboust and funk with percussionist Grégori Czerkinsky. Signed to the Pathé-Marconi label (EMI), he recorded his first six-track mini-album, Next Year in Asia (1982), produced by Michel Esteban and featuring trumpeter Éric Le Lann. The same year saw the release of the single "Acteur", with Patrick Vidal (formerly with the Lyonnais group Marie et les Garçons) as the new lead singer. Recorded in 1983, Octobre Paolino Parc's second album, featuring the single "Masculin / Féminin", welcomed, in addition to Éric Le Lann, bassist François Daniel, keyboardist Mico Missim and trombonist Christian Guizien. In June of the same year, the band opened for David Bowie at the Hippodrome d'Auteuil, before going their separate ways. Frank Darcel and Patrick Vidal then formed Senso, which saw the debut of Pascal Obispo.
