Konrad Ragossnig, born on May 6, 1932, in Klagenfurt, Austria, was an Austrian guitarist and lutenist. He studied guitar at the Vienna Academy of Music with Karl Scheit from 1954 to 1957 and later became a professor there from 1960 to 1964. Ragossnig taught at the Basel Academy of Music from 1964 to 1983, before returning to Vienna in 1983 as Scheit’s successor, where he remained until 2002. He produced multiple recordings, including the six-part anthology Musik Für Laute (1974), which was named "record of the century" by the magazine Fono Forum in 1976. Ragossnig premiered works by composers such as Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Hans Haug. He also received several awards during his career. He died on January 3, 2018, in Antwerp.
