The Swan Silvertones, an American gospel music group, were formed in 1938 by Claude Jeter. Initially known as the "Four Harmony Kings," they later renamed themselves the Silvertone Singers and added "Swan" due to sponsorship from Swan Bakeries. Their radio exposure led to a contract with King Records in 1946. The group blended barbershop harmony with virtuoso leads by Jeter and Solomon Womack. They recorded for Specialty Records from 1951 to 1955, then switched to Vee-Jay Records, notable recordings include "Mary Don't You Weep" featuring Claude Jeter on lead vocals. After Vee-Jay shut down in 1965, the group recorded with HOB Records and later Savoy Records. In 2009, a revamped lineup released Need More Love. The Swan Silvertones were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002.
