SIMO was an American rock band formed in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. The group, which included guitarist JD Simo, began as a psychedelic soul modern rock band that incorporated extended improvisation into its live sets. In December 2010, bassist Frank Howard Swart and drummer Adam Abrashoff invited JD Simo to join them for a jam session, leading to the formation of SIMO after an extensive three-hour performance. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2011 and began touring regionally around the south. Their breakthrough came with the release of Let Love Show the Way on January 29, 2016, which debuted at number 4 on the Billboard Blues chart and garnered positive reviews from outlets such as Rolling Stone and NPR. The band embarked on extensive tours across the United States and Europe. Following the release of Rise & Shine (2017), JD Simo began a solo career, marking the effective disbandment of SIMO.
