Die Verboten is a Belgian krautrock-influenced group formed in 2006 by David and Stephen Dewaele of Soulwax. The project includes the English electronic musician Henry Smithson (known as Riton) and the designer Fergus Purcell (known as Fergadelic). The formation was first announced in the Belgian weekly magazine HUMO in late 2006. In April 2007, Smithson stated that the ensemble was nearing the completion of its debut EP. On 19 May 2009, FACT magazine announced the group’s first official release, the 18-minute 12" vinyl EP Live in Eivissa, which featured 3D pyramid artwork. Although the band had recorded enough material for two albums by 2009, the debut studio album, 2007, was released worldwide in 2015. The group remained active since its inception, as of 2026.
