Danish singer, Hanne Boel is the former vocalist of jazz-rock band, Blast. Born 31 August, 1957 in Bagsværd, Copenhagen, Boel studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music before graduating in 1980. After studying at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Boel became a music teacher and released two albums with Blast in 1983 and 1986. Her debut solo album, Black Wolf was a huge success in Denmark and won her the Danish Music Award for Female Singer of the Year. A versatile artist, Boel has performed a range of styles over the course of her career including R&B, soul, jazz, pop, and rock. She has released a number of albums including Dark Passion (1990), which won four Danish Music Awards in 1991, including Album of the Year. As well as releasing a collaborative record with Martin Hall in 2000, Boel reunited with Blast for the 2005 album, Replay. Her 2002 album, Beware of the Dog, reached Number 1 in the Danish charts, and subsequent albums Abaco (2004), Private Eye (2007), and A New Kinda Soul (2008) all charted in Sweden and Norway. Boel went on to release two more jazz albums with Stunt Records, before releasing Outtakes with Warner in 2014, and Unplugged 2017, in 2018.
