Erica García, born on April 6, 1968, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a singer. She began playing guitar at age seven and composing her own songs. In 1989, she joined the poetry group Grupo Cero. Erica García co-founded the punk rock trio Mata Violeta in 1991, performing at various venues before disbanding in 1995. García launched her solo career in 1996, releasing her debut album El cerebro the following year. Her second album, La bestia, included "Vete destino," which earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock Performance in 2000. In 2001, she released Amorama under Universal Music Group, produced by Gustavo Santaolalla. García performed at Cosquín Rock and was nominated for an MTV award in 2002. She moved to Los Angeles in 2003, where she recorded her fourth album, Afternoon in Bamboos, in 2006.
