Jack Henderson Clement (born April 5, 1931 in Whitehaven, Memphis, Tennessee) was a singer, songwriter, and producer. After learning guitar and dobro in Memphis, he left home, served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1956, Sam Phillips hired him as engineer and producer at Sun Records, where he discovered Jerry Lee Lewis and recorded the Million Dollar Quartet session with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis. He wrote Johnny Cash’s crossover hit "Ballad of a Teenage Queen" (1958) and produced 20 albums for Charley Pride, including the hits "Just Between You and Me" (1966) and "I Know One" (1967). He released solo albums All I Want to Do in Life (1978) and Guess Things Happen That Way (2004). Jack Clement received inductions into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame (1973) and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, and was announced for the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013; he died in Nashville on August 8, 2013 of liver cancer.
