Alain Trudel is a Canadian conductor, trombonist, and composer born on 13 June 1966 in Montreal. He made his solo debut at the age of 18 with Charles Dutoit and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. In 1996, he received the Virginia Parker Prize, and in 1998, he became the first Canadian musician named a Yamaha international artist. Trudel served as the conductor of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra between 2004 and 2012. He was the music director of the CBC Radio Orchestra from 2006 to 2008 and led the Orchestre Symphonique de Laval from 2006 to 2022. He received the Grand Prix du Disque from the Académie Charles Cros in 2003 and the Heinz Unger Prize in 2008. In 2010, his recording with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada was a finalist for Album of the Year at the Juno Awards. He was made a Knight of the National Order of Quebec in 2019.
