Dawn Ray’d, a British black metal band from Liverpool, was formed by singer and violinist Simon Barr and guitarist Fabian Devlin. The group initially began as We Came Out Like Tigers in 2008 before evolving into Dawn Ray’d with the addition of drummer Matthew Broadley. Named after a line from Voltairine de Cleyre's poem "Santa Agueda", the band was known for its anarchist and anti-fascist stance. Their debut EP, A Thorn, a Blight, was released in 2015, followed by their first full-length album, The Unlawful Assembly, in 2017. That same year, they signed with Prosthetic Records and released their second album, Behold Sedition Plainsong, in 2019, which received a positive review from Kerrang! magazine, earning 4/5 stars. Their final album, To Know the Light, was released in 2023. The band announced their disbandment in September 2023.
