The Atlantics, an Australian surf rock band, formed in 1961 in Sydney. The original lineup included drummer Peter Hood, bassist Bosco Bosanac, lead and rhythm guitarist Theo Penglis, and guitarist Eddy Matzenik, who was later replaced by Jim Skaithitis. The group gained local attention and signed with CBS Records in 1963 after appearing on a television talent show. Their breakthrough came with the release of Bombora in 1963, which achieved international success. In 2000, The Atlantics reformed with three original members and continue to release new material and perform in concert.
