The Nails was an American new wave band formed in 1976 in Boulder. Originally known as The Ravers, the founding quintet included lead vocalist Marc Campbell and keyboardist Dave Kaufman. They relocated to New York City in 1977 and changed their name to The Nails before establishing themselves on the club circuit. They released the extended play Hotel for Women (1981), which featured an early version of the track “88 Lines About 44 Women” (1981). After signing with RCA Records, they re-recorded the song and included it on their debut studio album Mood Swing (1984). The album reached the Billboard Top 200 chart and was followed by the studio recording Dangerous Dreams (1986). After leaving their label, they recorded a third album titled Corpus Christi (1993). In 2007, they licensed their first two albums to release them on compact disc for the first time. Campbell died of a heart attack at his home in Austin on 21 December 2024 at the age of 73.
