Karin Plato, born March 31, 1960, in Alsask, Saskatchewan, is a Canadian jazz musician, composer, and vocalist. She learned piano as a child and studied at the University of Saskatchewan before moving to Vancouver in 1985 to study jazz singing at Capilano College. She released the album, There’s Beauty in the Rain (1998), which was nominated for a Juno Award in 2000. Plato joined the vocal group Divas for Life, performing at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival and releasing a live album in 2001. Notable albums include Blue Again (2001), Snowflake Season (2001), The State of Bliss (2003), and Out of Town (2010). She was nominated three times for Canadian Jazz Vocalist of the Year at the National Jazz Awards.
