Born in Dallas, Texas, raised in Irving and Arlington. Yung Boss Crook is know to his closest friends and family simply as “Crook!” Raised by his mother, as an only child Crook learned a lot of lessons about being a man through sports and running the streets on the Dallas/Ft. Worth metropolex. You could say Crook gets his love of music from his mother who often brought him along to her frequent and often choir rehearsals at church. Eventually, she found a way to get Crook involved with the youth choir as well. As a youngster, Crook even performed with the late christian artist Carmelo “Carmen" Licciardello. To say the least, Crook is no stranger to the spotlight.
Growing up, Crook chose sports throughout junior high and high school, all the while, continuing to write lyrics to beats he would burn onto CDs. Crook never really stopped making music. Crook says, “I’m a product of hard work and repetition. I feel like I’ve already been doing this a lifetime.” Throughout college, Crook would often skip classes, test and other events on campus, choosing to practice on his craft instead. Turning his dorm room into a recording studio, Crook formed a group known as “Yung Men Of Bidnizz" consisting of artist such as LB111 and DontreezyMusic. Crook did all of this while earning a B.A. in psychology.
Crook says he draws inspiration from artist/groups such as Big K.R.I.T., J. Cole, Devin the Dude, Z-Ro, UGK, Outkast, SUC, DSR, Rap-Alot-Records, Nipsey Hustle, T.I., Erikah Badu, Webbie, Twisted Black, Tupac, and many more. Crook has opened up for Z-Ro & Lil Flip, been featured on “Coast to Coast” mixtapes and internet radio. Crook is a big supporter of his home state and the artist that paved the way for him to be who he is.
Crook is a Swiss army knife and truly has a Midas touch. He does it all. Mixing, producing, writing, promotion, marketing, graphic design, and artist management. As Crook would say, He has the juice and Crook has no problem letting you know he knows. He has no problem with confidence but humble and willing to learn from anyone willing to share their wealth of knowledge Crook has nearly 30 releases in 2020 and is already out paving that mark in 2021 with 2 new singles, “4 U” and “Sì Señor" in anticipation for a trio of EPs coming in summer 2021. Crook is destined for stardom and he’s no stranger to hard work. Yung Boss Crook is putting his stamp on the game and letting everyone know he’s here to stay. As Crook would say, “Watch the demonstration!”
