The Florestan Trio was a piano trio formed in 1995 in London, England. The ensemble consisted of Anthony Marwood on violin, Richard Lester on cello, and Susan Tomes on piano. Their breakthrough came with the release of their recording of the first two trios by Schumann, which won the 1999 Gramophone Award for chamber music. That same year, they received the Music Award for Chamber Ensemble from Britain’s Royal Philharmonic Society. The Florestan Trio recorded extensively for the Hyperion label. In 2009, they performed Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 in D major in a rare arrangement for piano trio. Their final series of concerts took place at the Wigmore Hall in London in 2012.
