John Arthur Hickman, also known as Johnny Hickmann, born September 10, 1959, in Redlands, California, is an American musician known for his role as a guitarist. Before co-founding the rock band Cracker with David Lowery in the early 1990s, Hickman played in various California bands, including The Unforgiven and The Dangers. His signature sound, influenced by punk rock, surf guitar, and "Bakersfield Country," is prominently featured on his 1977 Les Paul guitar. With Cracker, Hickman released several albums, including Kerosene Hat (1993) and The Golden Age (1996). In addition to his work with the band, he has engaged in solo projects such as Palmhenge (2005) and Tilting (2012), as well as collaborations like the Hickman-Dalton Gang.
