Milan Knížák is a Czech noise musician and performance artist born in 1940. Associated with the Fluxus movement, Knížák served as the director of Fluxus East from 1965. Knížák created the concept of “Broken Music” (1965), which involved the manipulation of gramophone records. Their recordings include the albums Broken Music (1979) and Obřad Hořící Mysli (1991). Later releases include Broken Tracks (2008) and Petition zum studentischen Protest (2015). Knížák received the Medal of Merit from the Czech Republic in 2010.
