Raggio di Luna, born Mandy Ligios on April 15, 1954, in Forbach, Moselle, France, is a French singer known for her work in Italo disco. As a teenager, she first performed on stage in the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair, and Evita. In the early 1980s, she met Italian composer Aldo Martinelli, who, along with Simona Zanini, had been involved with various Italo disco groups such as Doctor's Cat and Topo e Roby. This collaboration led to the release of Raggio di Luna's first single, "Comanchero", in 1984. The song was composed by Aldo Martinelli and Simona Zanini, who also sang it under the pseudonym Moon Ray. It became a significant hit in European discothèques, reaching number 3 on the charts in Germany and number 5 on the French top 50. Following this success, Raggio di Luna released additional singles including "Viva" in 1985 and "Tornado Shout" in 1986. She also performed with various bands as a complement singer. In addition to her musical career, Raggio di Luna was the sister of Kenzo David, who is also known for his work in the music industry as a singer and producer. Throughout her career, Raggio di Luna's contributions to Italo disco left a lasting impact on the genre, showcasing her unique voice and artistic prowess.
