Marjorie Fair was an American indie rock/psychedelic band formed in New Jersey by musician Evan Slamka and based in Los Angeles. The group released the single “Stare” on May 17, 2004; later singles from that period included “Waves”and “Empty Room”. Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut album Self Help Serenade in 2004 on Capitol Records. The band toured Europe opening for acts including Modest Mouse and Doves. In the US, the album was released on July 19, 2005, supported by tours with Tegan and Sara and Mellowdrone. Marjorie Fair also performed at the Glastonbury Festival that year.
