Plan 9, an American neo-psychedelic band from Rhode Island, was formed in 1979. The original lineup included John Devault on guitar, Eric Stumpo on guitar and vocals, Mike Meehan on drums, John Florence on bass, and Deborah De Marco on keyboards. Inspired by the 1950s science fiction film Plan 9 from Outer Space, the band released their first single "I Can't Stand This Love, Goodbye" in 1981. Their debut album, Frustration (1982), featured a long title track and included earlier singles. In 1984, Plan 9 released two albums: Dealing With the Dead (1984), noted for its guitar-driven compositions, and Plan 9 (1984). They also contributed to the holiday season with "Merry Christmas" (1985). They released Ham and Sam Jammin' in 1989 before a hiatus that lasted until 1993. Plan 9 returned with Pleasure Farm in 1998 and later shifted to jazz-influenced improvisational music.
