Three was an English-American progressive rock and adult-oriented rock band formed in March 1987. The group featured Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer, formerly of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, alongside American musician Robert Berry. Their formation followed failed attempts to reunite the original Emerson, Lake & Palmer lineup. The band released their only studio album, To the Power of Three, on March 14, 1988, under Geffen Records. The album reached number 97 on the American charts, while the single “Talkin' Bout” peaked at number 9 on the mainstream rock charts. Following a tour of North America from April to May 1988, the group disbanded later that year due to limited success. Emerson died in March 2016, after which Berry released two albums under the name 3.2, The Rules Have Changed in 2018 and Third Impression in 2021, featuring musical ideas from Emerson.
