Kim Petra Hoorweg, known as Kim Hoorweg, was born on December 9, 1992, in Utrecht, Netherlands. She began her musical journey with cello lessons but transitioned to singing jazz after meeting Trijntje Oosterhuis at age twelve. At fourteen, Hoorweg signed with Universal Music and became the youngest female artist on Verve Records. Her debut album Kim Is Back was released in 2007, followed by performances at the North Sea Jazz Festival and collaborations with notable artists like Trijntje Oosterhuis and the Metropole Orchestra. In 2009, Hoorweg released her second album My Recipe for a Happy Life, featuring international jazz artists such as Chance Howard and Candy Dulfer. Her third album Why Don't You Do Right was recorded with The Houdinis in 2011. Hoorweg also performed with various bands including The Kimcompany, Bongomatik, and participated in projects like Back to the Roots.
