Lou Bennett, born on May 18, 1926, was an American organist known for his contributions to jazz music. He first played bebop on piano, but started playing organ in 1956 after hearing Jimmy Smith. After touring the U.S. with an organ trio from 1957 to 1959, Bennett moved to Paris in 1960. He released notable albums, such as Pentacostal Feeling (1966) and La Vil Seduccion (1968). These works showcased his unique style and skill as an organist. Leading his own quintet alongside Gerard Badini, among others, in the 1980s, he also toured Spain extensively, with stops in Madrid, Barcelona, Segovia, Almeria, La Coruna, and Salamanca. Lou Bennett passed away on February 10, 1997, in Paris.
