Cristina Graciela Banegas, born on February 26, 1948, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was an actress, director, theater teacher, and tango singer. She began her career in theater in the late 1960s, with notable early roles including Señorita Aprobado en castidad (1968) and Woyzeck (1976). Banegas' extensive theatrical work includes productions such as Romeo y Julieta, El príncipe idiota, and Antígona. As a tango singer, her album Tangos with Ubaldo de Lio was nominated for a Gardel Award. Banegas also directed and performed in the musical La Morocha. Her contributions to Argentine culture, particularly for acting, were recognized with numerous awards, including the Ace Award in 1995 and the Leonidas Barletta Prize in 1996. In 2013, she was named a Distinguished Personality of Culture.
