Born Samuel Robert Barber in Frohna, Missouri, on April 15, 2003, country singer, songwriter and musician Sam Barber wrote his first songs as a teenager, before studying civil engineering. Still a student, he posted his first videos on social networks in 2021, mainly covers such as Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man", but also "Ophelia" by The Lumineers. The audience for his first personal track, "Run Away High", encouraged him to audition for American Idol, but he was not selected. Luck smiled on him when another of his songs, "Straight and Narrow", proved popular on the networks and in the charts, peaking at number 13 on Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart, and charting in Canada, Australia and Ireland. He made his live debut in 2023, and was soon opening for Bruce Springsteen and Ed Sheeran, before his first concert at the Grand Ole Opry. Signed by Lockeland Springs, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, he released his first EP, Million Eyes (2023), followed by a Live EP 001 recorded live. In 2024, after composing the song "Tear Us Apart" for the film Twisters, a new series of singles heralded the release of his debut album Restless Mind, featuring two duets with Avery Anna. The EP Music for the Soul (2025), featuring the eponymous track and the hit "Man of the Year" (#86 in Canada), is followed by the album Live from 2025. In 2026, the second studio album Broken View is released, including the singles "Borrowed Time" and "Just a Kid".
