Born on April 9, 1895 in Geneva (Switzerland), and died on May 30, 1975 in Bry-sur-Marne (France), Michel Simon was a French actor and singer. He appeared in over 145 films and 150 plays between 1920 and 1975. He played his first stage role in 1920, in the play Les Ratés. He made his film debut in 1924, in La Galerie des Monstres . In addition to acting, he was also a singer. In 1934, he sang the songs " Amour en noir et blanc " and " Elle est épatante, cette petite femme-là " with Arletty in the operetta Le Bonheur Mesdames. This was followed in 1939 by " Comme de bien entendu ", which he performed in the feature film Circonstance Atténuantes. In 1961, he sang " Printemps sans amour " and " Pierrot la tendresse " from the film of the same name. He duets with Serge Gainsbourg on " L'Herbe tendre " during the filming of Ce Sacré Grand-Père in 1968. Michel Simon performed with Marie Laforêt at the Olympia in November 1969. He died of a pulmonary embolism on May 30, 1975, at the age of 80.
