Salimata Sidibé, also known as Sali Sidibé, born in 1959 in Wassoulou, Mali, was a Malian singer and songwriter. She began her career with the Ensemble Instrumental National de Mali in the 1980s and gained popularity through hits like "Toukan Magni". Her debut album L'enfant chéri du Wassolon marked her entry into the music scene, followed by notable releases such as Formidable ! (1982), "N'Daya International" (1993), and Wassoulou Foli (1993). Sidibé's unique blend of traditional rhythms from the didai, sigui, and sogonikun dances made her a prominent figure in Malian music. She also collaborated on the album Whirl-Y-Waves with London to Africa All Stars. Sali Sidibé passed away on February 8, 2019, leaving behind a significant legacy in African music.
