Peter Andersson, born March 20, 1973, in Boxholm, Sweden, is a music composer known for his work within ambient, noise, industrial, electronic, and experimental genres. His interest in electronic music began with Kraftwerk albums from his brother's collection. Andersson started recording sounds himself, using various objects like industries, boats, and fans. Andersson's first notable project was Raison d'Être, a dark ambient endeavor inspired by Carl Gustav Jung’s phrase "the individuation is the raison d’être of the self." The project blends dark ambient atmospheres, drone elements, industrial sounds, and ecclesiastical hymns. Andersson's debut album with this project, Après nous le Déluge, was released in 1992. Subsequent releases include Prospectus I (1993), Enthraled by the Wind of Loneliness (1994), and Within the Depths of Silence and Phormations (1995). Notable later works include The Empty Hollow Unfolds (2000) and Metamorphyses (2006). Andersson's work often features synthesizers playing droning melodies over industrial sounds, mixed with Gregorian chants. His discography includes collaborations such as De Aeris In Sublunaria Influxu with Troum (2015) and live albums like The Luminous Experience (Live in Enschede 2008).
