Sozhavanthan Varadharajan Venkatraman, also known as SVV, was born in 1911. He was an actor, singer, and music director in the Indian film industry from 1938 to the 1970s. Venkatraman's musical journey started when he moved to Chintadripet, Madras, where he was offered a job as a stage artist and musician after being heard singing by the head of a drama troupe. Venkatraman composed music for over 200 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages. Notable works include Meera (1945), starring M.S. Subbulakshmi. He collaborated with prominent actors such as C.N. Annadurai, M.G. Ramachandran, and N.T. Rama Rao, and worked with leading playback singers of the time including P.U. Chinnappa Bhagavathar and T.M. Soundararajan. His last assignment was scoring the music for Sri Krishna Leela (1977). He died in 1998, at his residence in Palavakkam.
