Gianfranco "Gianni" Mocchetti, born on May 31, 1947, in Italy, was a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and bassist. He started his career playing guitar with beat groups and formed Cristalli fragili with Gianfranco D'Adda and Richard Pirolli. In 1971, they were discovered by Franco Battiato and became his support group. Mocchetti also worked as a session musician for the Italian Bla Bla label. He signed with Ricordi Records and participated in notable music festivals such as Festivalbar in 1978 with "Cantilena" and Sanremo Music Festival in 1979 with "Talismano nero". His notable albums include Paisà (1978) and Andare (1978). In 1992, under the name Matusalemme, he released Terra di nessuno. After a hiatus due to personal tragedy, Mocchetti resumed his career with the Spintapes label and released Beta in 2005. He passed away on January 28, 2013.
