Rudrapatna Krishnashastri Srikantan (known as R. K. Srikantan; 1920–2014) was an Indian Carnatic classical vocalist and radio producer from Rudrapatna, Karnataka. Srikantan received his initial musical training from his father, R. Krishnashastri, and later mentored under his brother, R. K. Venkatarama Shastri, and musicians Veene Subbanna and Chowdiah. His vocal style was significantly influenced by the Nadaswaram tradition. For 32 years, Srikantan served as an artist and producer for All India Radio. His singing was defined by sahitya shuddham (correct pronunciation) and shruti shuddham (refinement of pitch). Srikantan received the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1979), the State Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1981), and the Sangeetha Kalanidhi title from the Madras Music Academy (1995). The Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan in 2011. Srikantan died in Bangalore on February 17, 2014.
