Yoandri Castro—known professionally as Max Max—is a Cuban singer, composer, and performer who studied voice at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana under the tutelage of María Eugenia Barrios, followed by masterclasses with Italian vocalist Emmanuela Marcante. Early in his career, he toured internationally as a member of the influential timba ensemble Pupy y Los que Son, Son, led by Cesar "Pupy" Pedroso, contributing to their sound for nearly five years and even appearing on the Johnny Ventura album Tronco Viejo. In 2012, Max Max released his solo debut as part of the Bar de Paco project under the UK label Tumi Music, featuring the standout title track “Bar de Paco,” as well as interpretations of classics like “Pedro Navaja,” “Vive,” “Como Es Posible,” “Quiero Olvidarla,” and “Me Lo Dijo el Café.” This album marked a transition into his solo identity, showcasing both his interpretive range and compositional skill. Over the following decade, he maintained a strong presence in the Cuban music scene—performing as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter—while intermittently appearing in documentaries and musical theater such as 100 Sonidos de Cuba (2010) and Bésame Mucho (2011). He re-emerged in the 2020s with tracks like "En un Solo Día" (2025), and "Amor de Tres (Salsa)" (2025), which reached number 24 on the US Billboard Tropical Airplay chart.
