Angela Meade, born in 1977 in the United States of America, is an operatic soprano known for her powerful performances. She began her career by winning over 50 vocal competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2007 and the Grand Prize at the Montreal International Musical Competition in 2009. Meade made her professional debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Elvira in Verdi's Ernani in March 2008, stepping in for an ill colleague. She reprised this role in February 2012, which was broadcast as part of the Met’s Live in HD series. At the Met, she has also performed notable roles such as the Countess in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, and the title roles in Donizetti's Anna Bolena and Bellini's Norma. Meade has received prestigious awards such as the Richard Tucker Award in 2011 and the Metropolitan Opera’s Beverly Sills Artist Award in 2012.
