Matt Joe Gow, born in Auckland, New Zealand, is a singer and musician, songwriter, producer, and frontman of the band Matt Joe Gow & The Dead Leaves. His debut album, The Messenger, was released through Liberation Music in 2009 to critical acclaim. Gow's subsequent albums include Seven Years (2016), which was nominated for a Victoria Music Award for Best Country Album, and Break Rattle And Roll (2018), which won the award for Best Country Album. His album Between Tonight & Tomorrow, released in 2023, also won the Music Victoria Award and earned him his first nomination for an Aotearoa Music Award. Gow's musical style is influenced by folk, blues, and soulful rock, firmly rooted in country music.
