Gary Washington (born Alexander Giesbrecht on 12 July 1995 in Germany) is a German rap singer who began performing under the moniker Lil eXe alongside school friend Dominik Amarell before adopting the stage names Nemphis and ultimately Gary Washington. His first foray into battle rap came in 2011, and after several attempts he achieved a breakthrough in 2013 by reaching the 64th‑final of a prominent video‑battle tournament, which increased his visibility. In 2016 he released the EP Tape 24 and issued several singles such as "Who the Fuck is This", "Final Stage", "OuterSpace", "Panamapapers / Na Dikka Neyy", "Ready Set Go", "Oval Office / Pass Out", and "Wolkenkratzer", the latter of which earned him a position on the German charts at number 79 and on the Austrian charts at number 35. The track also secured a win at the JuliensMusicCypher competition, highlighted by 4 122 downloads. Washington continued to produce music and collaborate with artists such as GReeeN, while touring and maintaining a steady presence on streaming platforms, with videos regularly surpassing hundreds of thousands of views.
