Vibekingz is a loose collective of various German MCs, hip-hop DJs and dancers. At its heart, however, is the group's founder and main producer, DJ Static of Schnelson, Hamburg.
Vibekingz came to prominence in 2006 with a version of 'She's Like the Wind', originally from the film 'Dirty Dancing' (1987) and released to worldwide success by Patrick Swayze in 1987. For his version Static dropped the word 'she's' from the title and styled the song as an R&B ballad, recruiting the Berlin singer Maliq to perform vocal duties. That year also saw the release of another collaboration between Vibekingz and Maliq - the album '24/7 Addicted'. The collaboration was a success, leading Vibekingz to produce a number of American acts such as the group Shai on the song 'If I Ever Fall in Love'.
In 2015 the producer and singer Tihamer Jenei joined the group, and as of 2019 the lineup includes Patrick Scheffler (producer, songwriter); Markus Utke (producer); Jonathan Storm (producer, musician); Tihamer Jenei (producer, singer); nitro (rapper, songwriter); Ria (singer, songwriter) and Bria (singer, songwriter).
