Martina Filjak, born on December 14, 1978, in Zagreb, SFR Yugoslavia, is a pianist who began playing piano at age five. She studied at the Music Academy in Zagreb, the Vienna Conservatory, and other institutions. Filjak's breakthrough came with awards from several prestigious competitions, including the 2007 Concorso Busoni, the 2007 Viotti, and the 2008 Maria Canals competitions. In 2009, she won first prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition.
Filjak has performed with orchestras worldwide, including the Cleveland Orchestra and the Zagreb Philharmonic, and given recitals in major venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Konzerthaus Berlin. Her debut at Carnegie Hall in December 2009 received excellent reviews from critics. Filjak's discography included albums such as Glasovir = Piano (1997), Piano (2016), and Light & Darkness (2019).
