Poems For Laila, a German pop rock band, was founded in 1989 in Berlin by Nikolai Tomás and Roy Eisenberg. The duo gained recognition by winning the Berliner Senatsrockwettbewerb that year, leading to their debut album Another Poem for the 20th Century. The band's early sound blended Russian-Ungarian folk with pop and rock elements. In 1994, they released I Shot the Moon, produced by Phil Manzanera in London. Between 1997 and 2002, Poems For Laila focused on remixes and compilations, including Sometimes In The Nighttime – Best Of. Notable collaborations include work with producers Dave M. Allan and Roy Spong.
