Benny Reid, born on October 7, 1980, in Westfield, New Jersey, is an American jazz saxophonist, music producer, and composer. His parents introduced him to the music of John Coltrane and Miles Davis at a young age. He studied under Andy Fusco during high school and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz from Indiana University School of Music in 2002. Reid's first album as leader, Findings, was released by Concord Jazz Records in 2007. In 2019, he released Follow the Leader on Fat Beats, a reimagined work of Eric B. & Rakim’s iconic album, which achieved Number One status on two Billboard charts. Reid has also composed themes for national commercials and scored music for film and television.
