The Blizzards, an Irish band from Mullingar in County Westmeath, were formed by Niall Breslin in late 2004. Their debut single, "First Girl to Leave Town", entered the Irish Singles Chart at Number 11 in 2005. The band signed with Universal Music Ireland and released their first album, A Public Display of Affection, in 2006, which achieved platinum status in Ireland. In 2008, they released their second album, The Domino Effect, featuring the singles "Trust Me, I'm a Doctor" and "The Reason". The Blizzards performed at major festivals, including Oxegen. They signed a UK record deal with Island Records in 2009 for the release of The Domino Effect. After going on hiatus in December 2009, the band returned in 2016 with the single "Drop Down The Anchor" and released their third album, The Last Great Algorithm, in 2019.
