New American Shame, an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, was formed in 1998. The group initially consisted of Johnny Reidt on vocals, Jimmy Paulson on guitar, Terry Bratsch on guitar, Kelly Wheeler on bass, and Jack Stringham on drums. Drawing influences from Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, and Jimi Hendrix, New American Shame built a fan base through powerful live performances. Their debut album, New American Shame, was released in March 1999 via Will Records. The band's lineup changed when Geoff Reading replaced Stringham on drums, and they signed with Atlantic Records, which re-released their debut album with additional tracks. The single "Under It All" peaked at number 35 on the Mainstream Rock Chart. Following a tour with The Cult in the US and Japan, New American Shame disbanded by 2001. In 2010, the band reunited with Marty Chandler replacing Bratsch and has since continued to perform.
